Hair Care At Home!

Updated: Sep 13

All methods -

The hair you have is - REAL HAIR - we pride our selection off top quality hair choices and you can use, wash, wear, style, swim, sweat, dye, bleach, tone, the list goes on, as you would without the extensions.

THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO for all the methods is go to bed with your hair wet!!

Please avoid this, as it will cause matting, tangling, stress on the natural hair and extension hair, potential damage and even mold. Ew!

Sleeping with dry hair in a satin bonnet is the most ideal way of protecting your hair while you sleep plus they are not expensive and there are multiple kinds!

At the very least please wear double sided braids with dry hair!

The extension hair is not your own and therefore will not take your natural oils the same way. Please make sure you are nourishing your hair with a hair oil. I recommend the K-18 oil, however organic cold pressed: argan, castor (very thick be careful), and jojoba oils are great (and cheaper.) Also doing a hair mask at LEAST 2 times a month will help your hair immensely (recommended once a week.) I recommend Amika Soulfood hair mask (there is nothing better.)

  • Wash with a sulfate free, pthalate free shampoo and conditioner!

  • Before heat styling be sure to use a heat protectant: I recommend Amika or It's a 10.

  • Oiling the scalp can cause the extensions to slip so please be careful and try not to saturate the point of install ( bead or bond) with oil

Ponytails and high buns: please do not wear them too tightly! Just snug is good.

Shedding!! We lose on average 150 strands of hair every day! shedding is natural and normal. As the hair sheds, we can expect the extensions to either shed or loosen. When the extensions are removed you will see natural shedding be extracted as well, this is not an indicator that the extensions are damaging your natural hair.

Make sure to use a boar bristle hair brush as pictured down below for all methods, no bulbs on the prongs as they could get caught in your hair as the extensions grow out and pull on your natural hair, potentially causing damage.

This brush is available for purchase at Bella Li Studio!

SEW INS / WEFTS - Be sure to be brushing the top of the extension row with a boar bristle brush, however, the bottom you can use whatever brush you like! Putting your hair up in a ponytail is an option! Make sure you let us know how you typically wear your pony and please maintain that direction. Your hair is a custom install so putting the pony way higher or way lower can affect the weft and the installation. It is best to at least dry the band of the weft after washing , however air drying is ok occasionally as long as you are not going to bed with it wet!

  • Maintenance is due every 6-8 weeks

i-TIPS - Brushing is super important for this method! Be sure to brush at least 3 times a day root to end! Medium strength brushing will separate the bonds and keep them happy and healthy. Do your best not to twist and pull your hair, and wear a bonnet to sleep or at least braids.

  • Maintenance is due every 6-8 weeks

KERATIN BONDS / K-TIPS - Similar to i-tips ^

Brushing is your best friend here, Medium to strong brushing root to end 3 times daily will help ensure your hair does not tangle. Try not to twist and pull and make sure you are wearing a bonnet to sleep or at least braids. Do not tap on the bonds with heat, as they will melt, please be conscious of this when styling and blow drying.

  • Reinstall is due every 4-6 months

COMBLINE - Do not pick or pry at the extension, and let it shed naturally. Brush as needed.

  • Reinstall is due every 6-8 weeks depending on natural shedding time
